[ the acorn ]■
a living manifesto for HSD research
potential carried forward
An acorn carries a legacy and a possibility.
It carries what has come before, while what emerges depends on the conditions it encounters, the differences that shape it, the exchanges that sustain it and the changes to which it responds.
We see our HSD research community in much the same way.
We inherit a rich body of HSD theory, practice, experience and learning. We honour those who have developed, practised, tested, taught and shared it. At the same time, we remain curious about what new inquiry, evidence and perspectives might make possible.
[ interdependent pair ]rooted in legacy ↔ open to emergence
We allow what has come before to inform where we begin, without requiring it to determine where we arrive.
We honour what has come before while creating conditions for what might come next. We carry forward what we learn and enhance what we pass on.
Like the acorn, we carry potential forward.
Rooted in legacy
Open to emergence
Standing in inquiry
Finding the energy in difference
Searching for the true and useful
Noticing again
